Dolly is here

As a teenager I listened to Robyn's album so much it drove my family crazy. Robyn is here, is what I hear when I write Dolly is here (if you know you know). The truth is Dolly has been here since April and I've been too busy/distracted to talk about it. Who is Dolly you might ask? Well it's this extra adorable doll I created in the spring. She's in the pet plushie collection, so small enough to get done quickly, almost as simple to sew as Maddy the bunny and just as freaking cute.

I looooove dolls. It's how I started this business, with Penelope the doll and all her outfits. I did a market when the pattern was barely out with only her and some kits and it went so well. It boosted my resolve to go on with this project. I also made Lorie a couple of years after, she's a gorgeous heirloom doll with wooly hair. And now it's time for Dolly to shine.

Dolly has faux fur hair which I adore. It makes her very durable, and so personable. I also made her some ears which I find gives her more character. The embroidered face on the pet plushies is just the cutest and it shines the most with Dolly.

The down side of this pattern is that she is naked. It's a negative only if you see it that way, I see it as an opportunity to dress her up as I wish. And lucky for you there are 3 patterns to help you do it : the capsule wardrobe, the Halloween costumes and now the animal suits.

The animal suits is the other new pattern I released around the same time as Dolly. It is simply the cutest and I feel it doesn't need much explanation : it should sell it self. I tested a lot with this one, even went as crazy as putting a zipper in with a VERY fuzzy fabric, thinking what am I doing with my life while sewing it. And a minute later : "no one should have to endure this torture, this pattern has to get done differently". And just like that I realized no closure was needed, you could just slip the plushie in and out by the head. Silly me.

Anyway, that's it for today. Now I'm off to listen to my Robyn cd (yep still in my possession) and have her songs stuck in my head for a week.

Please visit my etsy shop and sew something cute just for fun.
